A Martin Burr award was made was to Jan Papy, Katrien Smeyers, Toon Van Hal and Raf Van Rooy (KU Leuven), to help to fund an exhibition commemorating the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Collegium Trilingue.
The exhibition was held at the KU Leuven University Library from 18 October 2017 to 18 January 2018, open to anyone interested in the subject, and demonstrated how humanist language training in Erasmus’ spirit can be an inspiring mirror for our contemporary practice of teaching languages. It enjoyed extensive media coverage, including in VRT and Klara.
In particular, the Martin Burr award helped to fund a digital reconstruction of the partly extant building complex that used to house the Trilingue, which provided visitors with a
visually appealing representation of the physical space in which Trilingue students listened to their professors.
