2024 Annual Colloquium of the Henry Sweet Society

Registration and Information for Attendees

The 2024 one-day annual colloquium of the Henry Sweet Society will be held on Friday 19 April at the University of Westminster, London.

The programme of the Colloquium is available here.

Registration

All those planning to attend the colloquium (including presenters) should complete registration by 8 April 2024 by following this Eventbrite link.

Location and Travel

The Colloquium will be held on 19 April at the University of Westminster, 115 New Cavendish Street: https://www.westminster.ac.uk/about-us/visit-us/cavendish. On arrival at reception, you should sign in and then proceed to the right beyond the security barriers to take the stairs or lift to the first floor. The morning presentations will be in room C1.18, known as 'The Pavilion'.

Accommodation and Food

Given our location, hotels close to the University are expensive. Budget hotel chains such as Premier Inn and Travelodge will typically offer better prices than independent hotels, and we recommend shopping around for options to find a good deal. We are located close to London's main shopping street, Oxford Street, and so there are numerous food outlets on the University's doorstep. Lunch and refreshments will be provided for those attending the Colloquium.

Martin Burr Travel Bursary

Postgraduates, early career scholars and other deserving candidates are encouraged to consider applying for the Martin Burr Travel Bursary to support the costs of attending the colloquium (https://www.henrysweet.org/martin-burr-travel-bursary). To be considered for a travel bursary, please send an email to a.linn@westminster.ac.uk by 15 March 2024, providing the following information:

  2. Email address

  3. Title of your paper

  4. Institutional affiliation

  5. Position held (e.g. postgraduate student, lecturer, postdoctoral fellow, etc.)
